About Arthritis:
Arthritis is defined as the inflammation of components and structures of the
joints in the human body. The main landmark of arthritis are, the joints in the
body specifically the synovial, articular and elbow joints. Arthritis is also
known as Arthritogenesis.
Cause:
Pain in the joints is caused by several pathological factors such as infections
in the joints, not having balanced diet, neurotic disorder and metabolic
deformity, etc.
Types of Arthritis:
Arthritis is of four types:
Osteoarthritis
Infective arthritis
Metabolic arthritis and
Rheumatoid arthritis
(1) Osteoarthritis:
Osteoarthritis is a progressive disease
affecting the articular cartilage of aging joints. It causes degenerative
condition of joints, without any inflammatory process. Characteristics of this
arthritis, is the degeneration of the articular cartilage tissues. At severe
stage, the erosion of cartilage takes place followed by exposing of sclerosis.
(2)Infective arthritis:
Infections at the joints cause infective
arthritis. Damages in the joints were made by Infectious diseases such as
staphylococcal, streptococcal, gonococcal, rheumatic small pox, tuberculosis,
guinea worms, and syphilitic etc. Severe pain is produce at the joints by this
type of arthritis.
(3)Metabolic arthritis:
This type of arthritis is due to metabolic
factors and the inborn error of Purine metabolism commonly called GOUT. Gout is
a condition characterized by the deposition of sodium urate crystals on the
articular cartilage, synovial layer and on semiarticular tissues. Gout causes
pain swelling and reddening of joints. Gout is considered as a universal
disorder. It especially occurs in elderly people.
(4) Rheumatoid arthritis:
Rheumatic arthritis is a universal disease
affecting the connective tissues of the whole body of human being. It causes
inflammation of synovial layer of knee or joint. It is characterized by the
involvement in musculoskeletal system. Rheumatic disease is considered to be of
autoimmune origin due to the immunological disorder against a foreign antigen.
Symptoms:
Symptoms
includes the following:
1. Redness of joints
2.Severe pain early in the morning
3. Inflammation of joints
4.hardness around joints.
Treatment:
Treatment of arthritis includes rest, balanced diet, regular exercise yoga,
etc. In severe cases, surgery is needed. Ayurvedic treatment can also be
included for the treatment of arthritis. Atropine is a complex substance that
is extracted from Atropa belladonna that can be used for the treatment
of arthritis
